Husband & Wife, Loveliest Relation of All:

There is a lot of excitement when the romance is fresh and new when everything seems easy and normal to communicate your love for your partner. The only problem is that in majority of cases this romance and ease of love communication starts lacking after couple becomes husband and wife.
Husband and wife tend to settle in a routine in which both of them feel like they are taken for granted. Love and affection should always be expressed in the relation of husband and wife. Like every problem has a solution, there is a number of ways which one can help to maintain a healthy and lovely relation between husband and wife.
Firstly, husband and wife must prefer the love language of each other. They must talk with words of love so that they feel loved when they communicate. Husband and wife must act lovely to each other. Remember that love between husband and wife is based upon the preferences of each other rather one selves. Secondly, to enhance love and affection, husband and wife must have a clear communication between them.
They must express their love and feelings freely and clear enough to be understandable by each other. Use sentences like, “My heart skips a beat every time I look at you” or you may also say, “every time I think of you, it makes me smile”. Having said this, husband and wife must concentrate more on doing rather just saying. Thirdly, husband and wife must spend a quality time together as its being considered the most powerful form of loving.
They must spend less time on phone, TV, computer and radio etc. Spending time and experiencing each other’s love works great to enhance love between husband and wife. The more time they spend together, more opportunities they will have to express their love. Last but not the least, husband and wife have to be truthful with each other because no relationship survives without truth and respect.
Speaking the truth and giving respect to each other is one of the most important ways to make the relation of husband and wife flourish with the colors of love and affection.

What is A Girl ?

post: Yasir 06,june 2012

Little girls are the nicest things that can happen to people. They are born with a bit of angel-shine about them, and though it wears thin sometimes, there is always enough left to lasso your heart—even when they are sitting in the mud, or crying temperamental tears, or parading up the street in Mother’s best clothes.
A little girl can be sweeter (and badder) oftener than anyone else in the world. She can jitter around, and stomp, and make funny noises that frazzle your nerves, yet just when you open your mouth, she stands there demure with that special look in her eyes. A girl is Innocence playing in the mud, Beauty standing on its head, and Motherhood dragging a doll by the foot.
God borrows from many creatures to make a little girl. He uses the song of a bird, the squeal of a pig, the stubbornness of a mule, the antics of a monkey, the spryness of a grasshopper, the curiosity of a cat, the speed of a gazelle, the slyness of a fox, the softness of a kitten, and to top it all off He adds the mysterious mind of a woman.
A little girl likes new shoes, party dresses, small animals, first grade, noisemakers, the girl next door, dolls, make-believe, dancing lessons, ice cream, kitchens, coloring books, make-up, cans of water, going visiting, tea parties, and one boy. She doesn’t care so much for visitors, boys in general, large dogs, hand-me-downs, straight chairs, vegetables, snowsuits, or staying in the front yard.
She is loudest when you are thinking, the prettiest when she has provoked you, the busiest at bedtime, the quietest when you want to show her off, and the most flirtatious when she absolutely must not get the best of you again. Who else can cause you more grief, joy, irritation, satisfaction, embarrassment, and genuine delight than this combination of Eve, Salome, and Florence Nightingale.
She can muss up your home, your hair, and your dignity—spend your money, your time, and your patience—and just when your temper is ready to crack, her sunshine peeks through and you’ve lost again. Yes, she is a nerve-wracking nuisance, just a noisy bundle of mischief. But when your dreams tumble down and the world is a mess—when it seems you are pretty much of a fool after all—she can make you a king when she climbs on your knee and whispers, "I love you best of all!"

PERSONAL PROBLEMS OF GILRS

NOTE FOR THE VERY DIM. Although every question on these VERY PERSONAL PROBLEMS pages is a genuine plea for help from some desperately sad tosser, our witty, literate answers are entirely satirical and NOT to be taken seriously! What do you mean 'not to be taken seriously?' Do you mean you're deliberately taking the piss out of people with very personal problems? We might be.. You heartless bitches! Look, we didn't ask the clueless wankers to write to us, did we? No...but— But what? Well...some of these people need HELP?! I'll say; so why are they writing to a site called 'Utterpants'? Where does it say that? At the top of every page on the site in letters an inch high. Couldn't you make it a bit more obvious? Well—we could, but then the desperately sad tossers might not write to us. Would that be a bad thing? Not for them, obviously. But we'd be well gutted. Why's that? Well, we couldn't take the piss out of the desperately sad tossers and their VERY PERSONAL PROBLEMS, could we?
'Page' (22), from Brisbane, Australia, asks:
My boy friend would like to have phone sex because we live so far away from each other but I don't know what to say. Can you give me ten things I can say?
Just one: "Go and fuck yourself!"
'Tracy' (14), from Bridgend, in Wales, asks:

Gareth has been liking me for, like ages! But it wasn't till a few weeks ago that I realised I couldn't lose him and had feelings for him too. I told him I like him, thinking it would change things for us - cos he favours Stace and Rob over me even tho we are all kinda friends me and Stace broke up again, but me and Gareth were still talking. He takes me out and we end up holding hands — so I don’t really know where I stand wiv him he knows I really like him though I decided to be the bigger person and asked Stace if she wanted to be friends again. She agreed so I thought we were fine again but Gareth wanted a break he needs to sort things out and said that we should just be friends for a bit... we haven’t spoken in the past week, but today I bumped into the three of them, and Rob shouted 'loner' to me Stacey said "shhh" and Gareth didn't even say anything. What am I supposed to think? I'm so upset and hurt. They are supposed to be my mates.
You're not related to Keli McTaggart are you? I'd recommend swopping the Burberry cap and hooded tracksuit for a pair of frayed cut-offs and a skimpy crop top. It may not get Gareth into your knickers but at least you'll stand a better chance of being picked up by someone who may.
'Wendy' (21), from Pond Hill, in the USA, asks:
My vagina is quite big and loose. I cannot feel most men and it is embarrassing for me. Men are one size and we are not, it is not their fault, but yet I treat men like garbage for being normal when I have a big vagina.
It seems that your arrogance is matched only by your abysmal ignorance, Wendy. Not only are men not all 'one size', but there is no such thing as a 'big vagina', though there are such things as big cunts and you are clearly on your way to being one. Either find a man who can fill your love tunnel or start buying larger vegetables.
'Jamie' (15), from New York, in the USA, asks:
I broke up with my boyfriend but we act like we go out . He still touches me but I see him flirting with other girls and that's the reason I broke up with him!! He told me he loves me and tries to get on my good side but I don't know what to do. Sometimes we're all getting along but then we are being mean and like always saying sorry. And I am a flirt a good one too. So I get any boy I want so why can't I let him go?
Because you're a clueless, selfish little tart with too high an opinion of yourself. I suggest you stick to playing with Ken and Barbie as you are clearly too immature to have a relationship with anything but plastic toys.
'Patricia' (14), from Worcester, in the USA, asks:
My best friend has a boyfriend who flirts with me he rubs my legs and gets personal. What should I do?
Try playing with his willy. If that doesn't get him rubbing the right bits you may need to take drastic action by dropping your panties and showing him where to park his loathsome weenie.
'Samantha', from New York, in the USA, asks:
I am twenty and my boyfriend is twenty-five and he has been trying for almost a year to have a baby and he is unable to. He already has two kids and I do want us to become pregnant but I feel like I am pressuring him. What can I do?
I think you may have nodded off during the more important parts of your sex education classes, Samantha. Unless your boyfriend is an alien, the chances of him getting pregnant are exceedingly slim. I'm sorry to disillusion you but the two kids he already has are almost certainly not his. Unless you want him to undergo expensive and risky surgery I suggest you settle for him impregnating you.
'Richard' (15), from Sunderland, in the UK asks:
I want a girl I know. I think she likes me but I aint got the bottle to ask her out.
I'm afraid you're buggered, Dick. Unless you can offer her a bottle of cider or packet of fags your chances of scoring are virtually nil.
'Nancy' (14), from Beverly, in the USA, asks:
I love to watch my sister getting spanked. She's seven years older and when mom spanks her over her knee on her shorts her fanny clenches and those tight shorts pull in her crack and I get really excited. Then mom pulls her panties down and she gets spanked eventually on her bare fanny and I watch from the crack in the doorway and masturbate with my hands down the front of my jeans as I watch and listen to her cry out and moan. After she's been spanked and goes to sleep I steal her shorts and the panties she wore and lay on my bed and masturbate as I sniff the seam and crotch of her green faded shorts. I put her panties over my face and sniff with my eyes closed thinking about spanking her bare arse over my knee and sniffing her wet crotch. Sometimes I lay over the seat of a chair in my room and listen as she gets spanked and rub myself on the edge of the chair to the tempo of the paddle hitting the seat of my sister's shorts. Do I need help?
Yes. Unless you are really a fifty-seven-year-old 300 pound meat packer from Idaho, in which case this behaviour is perfectly normal.
'Shyone' (17), from Bristol, in the UK, asks:
As embarrassed as I am to say it I have zits on my bum! I wash everyday using a loofah and I even apply tea tree oil. I've tried a lot of things, I really want to get rid of them. I've been in a relationship for three months and have not let my boyfriend see my bum. My confidence is low because of this! I won't go swimming or wear a bikini or anything that involves showing my body I would love to feel confidant within myself please please please help!
Washing is not going to get rid of your zits so long as you keep stuffing your face with burgers, chocolate and microwaveable pizzas. There's no guarantee that cutting out the crap you eat will make you look any less ugly, but at least you'll be able to flash your bum like any normal Bristol chavette without having the boys vomiting all over it.
'Anna' (28), from Blyth, in the UK, asks:
I just discovered a few days ago that my boyfriend was almost unfaithful. He had been chatting to another woman online and had made plans to go and spend a weekend with her he also sent her a picture of his erect penis on his phone which is how I found out about it. I have told him we can give our relationship another try but I have been checking his emails without him knowing and chatting to this girl pretending to be him. I am really hurting and don't understand how he could do this to me because we were talking about marriage and children I really love this man but I don't know if I can ever trust him again and I don't know what to do.
Let me get this straight, Anna. Your loving boyfriend is flashing his hideous knob at another woman, having what sounds like a steamy affair with her and you're not sure if you can trust him to be the father of your babies? To cap it all, you've started impersonating him, presumably in the hope of discovering what she has that you apparently don't. I can answer that — a brain. I suggest you dump him and stick to having relationships with men on your own intellectual level.
'Khadija' (24) from Brooklyn, in the USA, asks:
After I wash my pussy I do feel clean. The problem is that my boyfriend and I want to take our relationship to the next level and I don't feel that my pussy is ready. Sometimes I notice that I have a sticky, almost cum, on my pubic hairs and I want to know if this normal and how I can get rid of it.
I haven't the slightest idea what the 'next level' might be and really don't want to know, but I can tell you that a sticky pussy isn't normal. Perhaps if you stopped wanking so much it might have a chance to dry out?

Female body shape or figure:

Female body shape or figure is the cumulative product of a woman's skeletal structure and the quantity and distribution of muscle and fat on the body. As with most physical traits, there is a wide range of normality of female body shapes.
Human beings and cultures have perennially focused attention on the female body as a source of aesthetic pleasure, sexual attraction, fertility, and reproduction. There are, and have been, wide differences on what should be considered an ideal or preferred body shape, both for attractiveness and for health reasons. These have varied among cultures simultaneously.
Women's bodies occur in a range of shapes. Female figures are typically narrower at the waist than at the bust and hips. The bust, waist, and hips are called inflection points, and the ratios of their circumferences are used to define basic body shapes.

Impact of estrogens

Estrogens have a significant impact on a female's body shape. They are produced in both men and women, but their levels are significantly higher in women, especially in those of reproductive age. Besides other functions, estrogens promote the development of female secondary sexual characteristics, such as breasts and hips As a result of estrogens, during puberty, girls substantially develop breasts and their hips widen. However, the presence of testosterone in a pubescent female inhibits breast development and promotes muscle development; while estrogens act in the other direction.
Estrogen levels also raise significantly during pregnancy. A number of other changes typically occur during pregnancy, including enlargement and increased firmness of the breasts, mainly due to hypertrophy of the mammary gland in response to the hormone prolactin. The size of the nipples may increase noticeably. These changes may continue during breastfeeding. Breasts generally revert to approximately their previous size after pregnancy, although there may be some increased sagging.
Breasts can decrease in size at menopause if estrogen levels decline.

Fat distribution:

Estrogens can also affect the female body shape in a number of other ways, including increasing fat stores, accelerating metabolism, reducing muscle mass, and increasing bone formation.
Estrogens cause higher levels of fat to be stored in a female body than in a male body. It also affects body fat distribution, causing fat to be stored in the buttocks, thighs, and hips in women, but generally not around her waist, which will remain about the same size as it was before puberty. The hormones produced by the thyroid gland regulate the rate of metabolism, controlling how quickly the body uses energy, and controls how sensitive the body should be to other hormones. Body fat distribution may change from time to time, depending on food habits, activity levels and hormone levels.
When women reach menopause and the estrogen produced by ovaries declines, fat migrates from their buttocks, hips and thighs to their waists;later fat is stored at the abdomen.
Body fat percentage recommendations are higher for females, as this may serve as an energy reserve for pregnancy. Males have less subcutaneous fat in their faces due to the effects of testosterone;testosterone also reduces fat by aiding fast metabolism. The lack of estrogen in males generally results in more fat deposit around waists and abdomens (producing an "apple shape").

How to Propose to a Girl for Marriage and Get her to Accept!

You don’t need to be a millionaire to make your woman feel special when you propose. This is the day when you embark on a beautiful journey and it’s up to you to make it as romantic, memorable and exciting as you can. This is a day that will be talked about forever. Her friends will want to know about it. Your friends will quiz you about it. Even that annoying aunt of hers will probe for details.
TIP: Download a guide to proposing marriage - over 100 creative ideas on proposing marriage to your beloved.
If you are going to ask the girl to marry you, you should make sure that you’re truly in love with her and that she feels the same. This is of extreme importance. If you’re not sure of this, attempting even the most romantic proposal could lead to a rejection.
Don’t underestimate the surprise element and what a big effect it could have on your woman. A few days before the proposal, don’t start conversations about marriage. Don’t ask her “How important is marriage to you”. Don’t drop hints like “In six days, I’m going to ask you something” or “I have really, really, really special plans for Saturday…something so special that you can’t say no”. She should not get a whiff of what you have planned for her and if she’s a woman of average intelligence, she could. The effect of the proposal will be diluted if she already knows that you’re going to propose.
Forget feminism on this day and make her feel special by doing chivalrous things for her. Feminism does not mean being unromantic. A lot of men use equality or feminism as an excuse to be lazy and not plan anything special for their woman. Woo her, say sweet nothings and sweep her off her feet. Open the door for her, pull the chair, etc. It’s difficult to refuse a man who’s always nice.
I cannot stress on the importance of the venue. If you take her to a villa in the woods or a nature resort, half your work is done. Classic locations like the beach, mountains, river side, etc., will never fail. A woman needs little convincing if she’s in a beautiful and romantic place. You don’t have to go all out and spend loads of money on the venue. Take her to a quaint little restaurant that she’s always loved. Choose a place that has some history connected with the both of you. If you first met at the museum, take her there and propose to her in front of the antiques. If she loves village fairs, take the effort of finding out if there is a fair around town. Do something personal like lighting dozens of candles on your terrace. Place a rug in the centre. Get some great wine or champagne and pop the question.
Choose a ring that fits in your budget. You don’t have to spend your life savings and get her the kind of ring that Marc Anthony got Jennifer Lopez. Buy a decent ring that you can afford. More importantly, it has to be something that she will like. It is acceptable to ask sisters, girlfriends, co-workers, etc., for help. Some girls just love the whole charade of the man being all hush-hush and sneaking off to consult her friends on what she would like. If not anything else, it will make her feel special and important.
Do not forget to attack all her senses. Play great music. Make a personalized CD of all her favourite tracks. Include the song that you could truly call “our song”. Needless to say, the music should be romantic and soft. Avoid heavy metal, death metal, garage sound or electronica. Also steer clear of frivolous pop and bubble gum songs. No Britney Spears or Back Street Boys.
Make arrangements for delectable food with some nice wine. Finger food is sexy since you can eat with your hand. A couple of appetizers and a couple of entrées should be fine. No heavy duty stuff that requires dedicated knife and fork cutting. This is not the day to be cheap. So no take-away Chinese or pizza. Make arrangements for a great dessert like strawberries and cream or pie with ice cream. If you can, try to rustle up a meal yourself. Do not be over-ambitious, just stick to basics. She will appreciate your effort and who can say no to a guy who cooks!
Make an effort to look good. Shower and shave. Wear clothes that she likes. Splash on your extra special cologne. A woman will always appreciate the fact that you dressed up for her.
Now, after all the preliminary activities are done with, it's time for the real thing—the question. How do you propose? Choose a classic way of delivering the actual proposal. Start by telling her how she’s made you a different person and how you want to make her happy. You could put the ring in the champagne glass. Some people put the ring in the dessert. You could announce it on the digital scoreboard during half-time of a big game. Whatever the method, be sure that your girlfriend is comfortable with that kind of declaration. For example, if your girlfriend is shy, then don’t propose in a public place. If a public display of affection turns on your girlfriend, then maybe popping the question in a secluded spot could seem a tad watered down for her. However, remember that public places are fun but could lead to a lot of embarrassment if she turns you down.
Compliment her. This is not the day to play mind games and be stingy with praise. Tell her how she’s a traffic stopping beauty. Tell her how her beauty has bedazzled you. However, don’t get graphic and anatomical. Do talk about her virtues, inner beauty, strength, etc.
If your girlfriend is unsure and needs time to think, respect that and try not to pressurize her. If there’s some hesitation, you can spend time talking about common interests, ideologies, ethics, etc. to make her feel that you’re like two peas in a pod – that you belong together.
She should be able to imagine your life together. If you don’t have anything in common, laugh about it and state that opposites attract. If you have certain advantages or virtues, capitalize on them, whether they are academic qualifications, wealth or your looks. Be careful of the tone that you use. Stay away from anything that sounds pompous or arrogant. Avoid anything on the lines of “You’ll never get someone as wealthy as me”. Instead, you can say “You won’t have a thing to worry about. I will take good care of you and treat you like a queen”. Most women love being cherished, nurtured and taken care of. Her desire for security will work in your favour.
When you propose to her, you’re making the transition from a boyfriend to a prospective husband. Displaying husband-like traits will really assure her that you’re the one. Women like men who take control of or seem to have a hold over the situation. Do not appear nervous or fidgety. Stay calm and composed. Also, overconfidence and cockiness is a real put-off. This is also not the place to display and discuss your past conquests.
If the girl says “no”, understand that everyone has the right to decline a marriage proposal. Do whatever a reasonable man would do to convince the woman. If she loves you and is in the same place as you are, she will accept you. If she doesn’t, don’t sulk or mope. Also, don’t get aggressive and abusive. Ask for reasons, in a calm and collected manner. Don’t force the girl to discuss the reasons right away if she doesn’t want to. Chances are that she will be flustered and surprised by the proposal. Maintain your dignity and try to move on. If you spend months pursuing someone who is not interested in you, do consider that you may be missing out on some other girl who’s far more keen to be close to you. Give it time to heal and explore other options.
If the girl says “yes”, pop open the bottle of champagne and celebrate. This would also be a good time to kiss the girl. Use your discretion in a public place. Take a picture if you can, even if it’s on your cell phone. This would be a fantastic memory when you’re sixty four and drinking a hot cup of cocoa next to the fireplace. For now, don’t start planning the actual wedding and don’t get caught up in details. Enjoy the day. Count your blessings and start this new journey with lots of love.

What Do Think About The Boyfriend And Girlfriend Relationship?

I don't feel any bad for the relationship between girlfriend and boyfriend. If they like each other then what is the problem. There is not any bad thing between there relation. If they are general boyfriend and girlfriend, means they don't love each other then there should be some limitation between there relationship. They should not cross some boundaries because it will cause problem for both of them.

There is freedom anywhere; there should not be any restriction on a particular person. Moreover one doesn't have to think or criticize on any other person's personal matters. If two people are dating or doing any thing its there own personal matter. Anyhow there is freedom for any type of
couples either gays, lesbians, bisexual or male and female couple.
When two people love each other then obviously they are girlfriend and boyfriend, later on they become husband and wife.

Now a day, relationship between guy and girls is very common thing. Every other person has a relationship with other person either known to every one, or it is secret. If someone don't have this type of relationship then he/she seems out of fashion and don't able to walk with the society.

Tips of Growup Breast:

Breast massage as a method of natural breast enlargement and breast health has actually been used for years as a means of stimulating healthy breast growth and promoting breast tone, pliability and firmness.

Breast massage is one of the best ways to help create a more beautiful bustline by helping to shape, tone and promote growth of the breast and the area surrounding the breast.
By massaging the breasts on a regular basis, many ladies have claimed it has enhanced the shape, size and overall attractiveness of their breast.

Here are some guidelines for breast massage you may want to follow:

1.) Use Olive Oil or any other cream of your choice to help prevent friction and increase the enjoyment and relaxation of the massage for a more pleasurable and therapeutic experience. This can be an herbal mixture - there are some good ones out there that really do help to promote firmess and breast tone, while creating a larger and more rounded look.

2.) Light to moderate massaging using a gentle back and forth gentle “swishing” action is best. This can be in a counterclockwise circle around the breast to help promote maximum lymphatic drainage.

3.) To gain maximum benefit and therapeutic effects, breast massage should be practiced daily, as part of a routine - perhaps when fresh out of the shower, since the skin is still somewhat moist and the room may still be steamy, for a smoother massage which may be more easily lubricated since there will still be moisture in the air. If you prefer, even several times a day can be a great benefit. It depends on what fits into your schedule. A few minutes at a time should suffice.

Hello!

This week saw BT2‘s first preview fashion show in 5 years. The cooler, younger sister of Brown Thomas, offers a brighter, alternative, more casual way of dressing with collections from fashion houses including, Sandro, IRO, Maje and Lucy in Disguise. It also stocks designer diffusion lines from Karl Lagerfeld – KARL, Alexander Wang – T, Victoria Beckham Denim and Isabel Marant – Étoile among others.
Of the new season trends, BT2‘s must haves go like this:
  • The dress – The shapes, style and proportion is key. Think bright and clean lines as shown by yasir
  • Denim – From Victoria Beckham‘s poppy red to Current Elliot‘s pretty pastels
  • IRO‘s – trophy jacket in rich tomato red. See either the Ashville in washed leather or the Agnette in distressed bouclé tweed. See below:
  • Lightweight Tailoring – COS‘ pared back aesthetic
  • Shoes – The Superga trainer
While I agree with many a fair point made there, these are my favourite pieces from the show; my if I could I would choices, as it were.
The Dress‘Licorne’Who? Maje. Why? Leather trim and peplum (I am delighted that the peplum has made a return!)
OR
The Dress - ‘Penelope Gown’Who? Raoul
Why? Silk Georgette and leather maxi
Denim‘Sunbleach Peach & Poppy, Power Skinnies’ Who? Victoria Beckham Denim
Why? Thick, silky soft denim is rare especially when it’s tight enough to define your calf muscles.
I like the red but I want the peach. The shift tops are also pretty stunning.
Lightweight Tailoring‘Rolled Neck Tee’Who? Raoul
Why? Hot pink silk and button down at the back, like a reverse shirt surprise; great when worn under…
A grey trouser suitWho? The Kooples
Why? Turn up collar and matching chest pocket hanky and cuffs.
Shoes‘AustraliaWho? Carvela – Kurt Geiger
Why? Fuchsia pink suede peep toes
On another note.
KARL by Karl Lagerfeld…Silver leather collar and matching skirt, with cotton Karl Lagerfeld-emblazoned TShirt… Is a bit odd… Discuss.
Yours,
Whisty Xx

BT2 & MSGM’s summer injection

Hello,
I have a feeling it’s all gonna be about BT2 this week!
First off, word is out that there a couple of new labels in store. The Victoria by Victoria Beckham line has landed. But I’m exceedingly (like a Mr. Kipling cake) excited about amazing Italian label, MSGM. If you like, South Pacific prints, leopard print, Paisley, fringing, vibrant neon colours and dresses that need should be worn in St. Tropez… here’s is a little peak at what the label has to offer for SS’12.
Sorry if I made you feel colder!
Yours,
yasir

Coast had their preview in Dublin today. I rarely have occasion to dress in something so classic, and in reality, my style is a little more dishevelled to do pretty prom dresses and gowns justice. But this Merlot, backless maxi-dress was too perfect to not try on.

Dublin’s – Fashion’s Night Out 2011

Hello,
Armed with nothing but a camera and a slight concern that I hadn’t RSVP’d to the right people, I hit Dublin for Vogue Fashion’s Night Out.
First stop was Grafton Street for a few style post snaps.

Breaking in my new Warehouse leather / studs cuff
Next, it was to the HQ of Dublin’s newest design collective, Project 51 on South William St.. Designers including Sinéad Doyle and Que-Va, showcase their designs here
The party
A unique way to display the designs.
The stuff of fables, Aesop’s  Fox and Crow necklace from Saba Jewellery.
Horse & June vintage boutique, on Drury St.  was our next stop, Mojitos and nibbles with, owner  Zoe Wong.
Next was BT2 on Grafton St. Meeting up with Stephen Moloney, FINALLY back from his summer in London was great fun. Plus, I love dressing-up shopping; picking up things that you can’t afford and putting them on just for fun. That’s what BT2 were asking people to do with the help of Linda Conway. She was incredibly patient with me as I demanded this that and the other piece to try on. I chose a Shearling coat and leather skirt by Maje, sandals by Pinko, and a silk shirt by Equipment.

New Vintage – The high street hits back.

Hey All,
Right If I’m going to embrace this 70′s thing – knowing that if I do, I’m going all the way through to Autumn / Winter 2011 – then I’m doing it with gusto. I’m thinking 70′s secretary; pussy-bow blouses, big shades; A-Line minis, or midi-length skirts worn with chunky heeled knee-high boots. I’m thinking Jane Fonda’s secretary chic from the movie 9 to 5‘:
mixed with the platform sandals,  floppy hats and high waisted shorts of Jodie Foster’s, Iris in Taxi Driver:
With the the rise of vintage and the rocky economy, High Street stores have literally had to take a step back in time to keep their heads above water. Many of the stores on the Irish High Street come from the UK, where there has been pretty subdued sales growth so far this year which is not set to change any time soon. Therefore, these stores have had to up their ante and tackle the fashion-buying-public’s vintage obsession head on.
Luckily, there are a few things that work in their favour when it comes to vintage clothing; for starters there is always a ‘tell’ with vintage that gives its age away; be it colour, skirt-length, fabric etc… So by reproducing a vintage piece for mass production in their stores, high-street designers are able to tweak a design to make it more on-trend and most importantly more commercial.
There is also the fact that most women, don’t have the time or the inclination to rummage through vintage shops and fairs looking for the perfect dress / blouse / skirt, only to find that it isn’t even in their size. Another thing about vintage is that some people just simply don’t like wearing second-hand clothes.
Seeing as the summer has (barely) begun, it’s now the norm that the glossies (see the latest issues of Elle and Vogue) are looking to Autumn / Winter 2011 already. The High-Street’s AW11 collection previews began in London months ago and having seen a few twitter sneak-peaks, this winter is all about the vintage-inspired.
Dropping at the River Island AW11 preview, I saw just how successful a collection that takes inspiration from previous eras and adapts then to a more modern style, can be. By acknowledging and incorporating some of the key elements that make vintage so appealing; voluminous, luxurious-feeling fabrics, bold prints and colours, and attention-getting style, the designers at River Island have created a lustful, AW11 collection that will tempt even the most dedicated chasers of vintage fashion.
Straight in with Wintery textures and fabrics: Faux-fur, leather and wool. All in black and white, with the odd flash of red.
More wool and faux-fur; loving the faux-snow leopard coat.
AW11 colours; notably mustard and cerulean (see ‘Raquel Heels’ shoes).
Loose crochet, Barbour-inspired riding boots, bright Trilbies and gypsy-print shawls…
More mustard and cerulean, along with turquoise, purple and ochre.
The skirt shape I’ll be wearing ASAP.
Faux-Camel-hair anything, makes me crave AW11…
Enter disco-glamour – tiger-print wedges…
Chunky-heeled, round-toe knee-high boots (with (‘Mezzie Tassel’) or without fringing).
Open fronted-silky blouses with huge poet-sleeves (‘Rouge Pusybow Blouse’).
The red secretary dress (‘Blush Pussybow Dress’).
And quite possibly the best shirt I’ve ever seen… Rumour has it there WILL be matching trousers! Oh MY!
‘Story’ names include; ‘Gigi’ – 60′s-inspired pillbox hats, bow-front pumps and carpet bags. ‘White Savage’ – white faux-fur out sized knits and beige leather accessories. ‘London Girl‘ – Brothel-creeper brogues, monochrome and Houndstooth prints. And ‘Hustler’ (see Iris, Taxi Driver reference above) – Cerulean Trilbies, silky shirts, huge wedges and disco-gold accents.

Lucy in Disguise in Dublin

Hey All,
If you watched any of Channel 4‘s Riches to Rags documentary you’ll know that Lily Allen and her sister, Sarah Owen worked together to create high-end vintage collection, ‘Lucy in Disguise‘ which culminated in the opening of a flagship store in Covent Garden, central London.
This weekend the two company founders were in Dublin to launch their pre-fall collection of vintage-inspired fashions in Brown Thomas Dublin and BT2 Dundrum. The collection takes inspiration from various past eras and each piece is named after a place or time from a different decade. Like, ‘Altamont’, ‘The Roxy’, ‘Goldrush’, ‘Capone’, and ‘Zanzibar’. It’s a clever way of describing each piece; without even seeing the collection you immediately imagine a  collection of romantic yet edgy pieces.
lucy-in-disguise-lily-allen-brown-thomasLily wears, the short ‘Honky Tonk’ dress €130; Sarah Wears the Silk ‘South Kensington’ Maxi dress, €320. This one is undoubtedly my favourite.
More examples from the collection:lily-allen-lucy-in-disguise-pink-chiffon-black-flowers-dressPink chiffon maxi-dress, €355; Black lace maxi-dress, €475.

It’s a brave collection, with so many Maxi-dresses and jumpsuits that are both notoriously tricky retail-wise. With original vintage dresses, they are very often made of heavy polyester so the design team behind Lucy in Disguise have been clever to use lighter, floaty fabrics for their vintage-inspired designs. I think I’d still prefer the real thing, but then with those prices I have no choice!

Forever 21 Spring/ Summer ’11 Preview

Hey All,
Short of throwing on a bikini and throwing myself off the 40 ft at Sandycove, I could hardly be readier for summer. So I was delighted to get the chance to look at the Spring/Summer ’11 at F21 last week.
After a ridiculously busy start to European trading, Forever 21 is now shoppable and probably worth a visit. Not only are the staff helpful, but they actually know what stock they have and, if not exactly where it is at least, which of the three floors it’s on. (I went in a couple of weeks ago looking for these leather shorts; there were only three pairs left which were behind some other stuff. The staff couldn’t have been nicer in helping me find them).
F21 have also gone al out to cut the prices since they opened too, (By about 30% in some cases) bringing it more in-line with the US and UK stores. Their Spring/Summer ’11 collections are now in store and I got the chance to have a look at some of it last week.

So apart from wanting to buy the midi-length Cowboy boots, the full-length lace dress and the crochet & fringed waistcoat. And wanting to steal the metal-fringing, polka-dot prints and velvet / lace detailing; I tried on one or two other pieces…
An alternative take on colour blocking; clash prints in bold colours:
With braces, two-tone brogues and a cropped tee it all felt a little bit Blondie and a little bit The Specials / 80′s Ska band, and I liked it.

Triumph Lingerie Inspiration Awards at Brown Thomas

Hey All,
Charity fashion shows don’t come in this shape and form very often. To celebrate 125 years in the business of keeping certain parts of the female anatomy from heading southwards, Triumph have themed this years’ Inspiration Awards (TIA), ‘125 of Celebrating Women‘.
Design students from around the world were challenged to conceptualize and design a unique lingerie showpiece in that theme. 19 students from Griffith College and Limerick School of Art & Design (LSAD) entered the competition to represent Ireland; the winner will travel to Berlin this July where winning designers from each country will compete in the global finals.
The 19 Irish student designers presented their concept showpieces in a fashion show in Brown Thomas, Dublin on Wednesday evening. It was quite the glitzy event; judges included Brix Smith Start, Brown Thomas Lingerie, Buyer Mary Mullin, Triumph Head of Marketing, Purminder Mondair and Sunday Independent Columnist, Triona McCarthy. The M.C. for the evening was T4‘s three-piece-suit wearing, George Lamb.
The results: Runner Up #1: 3rd place Svitlana Andriyets – ‘Feline Fantasy’

Runner Up #2: 2nd place Stephen Foley – ‘Why Do Dishes When You Can Do Daquari?’

Winner: Sarah Ryan – ‘The Edge Of Euphoria’

Interesting that all three finalists were inspired by the feminine eras of the past – the prim ’50′s and  the bohemian ’70′s. The judges were looking for designs that were both innovative and wearable (the basic necessities of most successful fashion design concepts, no?) and the final three designs offered both. Designs from previous years were translated into high street pieces, and I’d love to see how Sarah Ryan’s winning piece will look.
It’s quite unusual to see a catwalk / fashion show and see a single piece that stands out so markedly from the others. That’s exactly what Sarah Ryan’s concept did; I had visions of an on-stage Stevie Nicks as the intricate leather braiding and chiffon sleeved design went past. It did smack of the laid back femininity of the ’70′s but without looking remotely dated. Congrats Sarah.
Winning Designer Sarah Ryan with her design. If this is the future of underwear, I’m in.
All the designs will be displayed in the lingerie department in Brown Thomas Dublin for the next week.
L-R: Triumph Inspiration Award winners – 2nd place Stephen Foley and his design, 1st place Sarah Ryan and ‘The edge of Euphoria’, 3rd place Svitlana Andriyets and her design.
All monies raised at Wednesday’s event in Brown Thomas will go to The Red Cross Japan Tsunami Appeal.

A Style Post: Irish Fashion Awards – The final Choice

Hey All,
You may or may not have seen the coverage on last week’s Irish Fashion Awards. Bloggers, The Licentiate, S-oh-S-ew, Style Isle and myself attended the event in support of two winning bloggers; People’s choice category: Glamrocks,  and Judges category: What She Wears.
As with many observers of the awards; be they nominees, attendees or those with a curious interest, I didn’t really know what to expect. Of course I was excited by the prospect of an event that would raise the profile of people in the Irish fashion industry. The list of nominees seemed to reflect a more alternative take on Irish fashion. Hairdressers, stylists, new designers and bloggers among other categories were each given their well-deserved props.
The MC on the night said that the people being celebrated were those who made other people, including those in the public eye, look good. Granted, stylists, make-up artists and hairdressers do indeed make us all look great, but there was more to the awards than that.
Working in fashion is a hard-fought career; one that if you don’t put your heart and soul into is likely doomed to fail. Working long hours for little or no pay is par for the course, a fact that sees many give up when their chosen path into fashion isn’t the glamorous, ‘dream job’ they imagined. These awards were a nod to the people who have struggled on through periods of no financial gains (and in some cases are still struggling – see bloggers) and have still managed to achieved success in their chosen field.
It gave credit to those people who through talent, determination and a little bit of luck are able to push the boundaries of Irish Fashion; by thinking outside the box and showing others the way forward through their creativity and genuine love of fashion. It is hard to fight against the mainstream, and having read comments about the awards, before and after the event, damn near impossible. So to all those who won, were nominated and showed their support on the night, I take my hat off to you. It is definitely not easy.
